★★★★★“Les Monges Palace is a really nice little boutique hotel in the heart of Alicante, close to the beach, bus and tram stops as well as many of the city’s major attractions. It is comfortable, clean, the staff are friendly without being ‘in your face’ and I highly recommend it. We stayed last year in one of the Melia places next to the beach and this was a much better experience, quieter, more personal and bags more character. However, I had paid for one of the superior doubles and as you can see from the picture, most rooms have a large window and small balcony, which would have been nice. Not for us though, we checked in and were given a room on the third floor which was a glorified version of Harry Potter’s bedroom under the stairs. It did have a small sky light that you could look out of by standing on a chair, but the ceiling is acutely sloping and banging your head on the rafters is a real hazard. There was no wardrobe or drawers for luggage but a shelf and rack which, again, comes with the hazard of a sore head. That all said, the aircon was very efficient, the Wi-Fi okay and it was kept spotless clean. All in all, this is definitely the place we will be coming back to when next we visit Alicante, but only if they can guarantee no attic room.”

But it does have bucket loads of charm and uniqueness. Each room is different. It’s not cookie-cutter rooms. The staff is very nice. The location is great. And terrace on the roof is really ice with a cool little bar. Highly recommend this hotel!”
